Just went to a mystery science theater-esque event hosted by Circus of Doom in Marietta Square. It played Plan 9, the last thing Bela Lugosi ever shot. It was a wonderful evening of fellow weirdos, blockheads, heckling, and free purple beer (a delicious blueberry beer called Vampira, from one of our local micro breweries).
There is no progress to report on my gofundme campaign, but I still have high hopes.
On an unrelated note, today I celebrate and lament, for I have finally joined the Borg collective, and own an android smart phone. Yes, I, your humble steampunk, have been dragged kicking and screaming into the century of the Fruit bat. Resistance is futile...there's an app for that.

New update and steamy project
So, we have another donation from an anonymous donor, bringing us to $150 of the $700 goal. I'm beside myself with anticipation, and it's all I can stand not to constantly check!
Meanwhile, I have been renovating my bedroom. The current project is the front wall, which will hopefully look like an aged parchment vellum. I have the base coat and the first texture color, and hope to do a coat with the next color before the night is over. I may be being too ambitious, though. It's been a long day.

The first has come
Great news, my steamy friends!
The first drop in the gofundme barrel has fallen and it was a generous and refreshing $100 on the part of Wolf Stiles, a dear friend, whom I hope to see when I get to San Fran. I will continue to update as more wonderful people find me.

Prologue
Greetings and Salutations fellow Ethernet travelers,
This is the inaugural post of my travel blog. I've never tried to keep a blog before, though I have been writing poems, stories, articles, and anecdotes for years. On the assumption that I will be successful in gathering the funds to go to the West Coast in June, I have created this blog to both keep people abreast of my progress, and sort of "prime" my writing pump, if you will.
If you wish to help in that endeavor, please follow this link: http://www.gofundme.com/2nuuxo and pledge your contribution to me. Every little bit helps greatly.
Once I am officially having my adventure, I intend to attempt to write something most days of my trip. I will use my favorite posts and thoughts to augment my photobook. After my trip, well, I will use it to update people on my prize progress, and by then I'm hoping it will be a bit of a habit, and I will continue on. If not, then it will have at least served it's purpose and will be resurrected when I have my next adventure.
Curious to know who might "follow" me down this rabbit hole,
signing off for now,
Dr. Bedlam
